Well, that was number one of the series, and I would like to know what you all thought.
I enjoyed the Weapons and Tactics part of the show, and the way the contestants reacted with each other, and of course the Graphics-fantastic!
I didn't enjoy the forced enthusiasm and loud voice of the "Host",Greg Wallace!!-I also had great difficulty following the sequence of the battle-but maybe that's just my age!!! I also think that "Lynette" must have the same fashion adviser as Theresa May,but that really isn't relevant to the programme, but the smug comments of Mike Loades,I thought, were a bit too much.
Overall number one was okay, and I'll watch the rest of the series to see how it goes, but will probably turn the volume down when Greg is talking(sorry, shouting!!)
Comments please.......................
Afternoon John,
ReplyDeleteI cant decide whether to 'do' a post re the TC programme, I think it would probably illicit some hate comments, and I am a bit sensitive.
My overall impression was, who was it created for exactly.Frankly I had to turn it off when the Romans decided to reorganise their troops before finally going forward into the Carthaginians again. Unfortunately any interest I had was stifled by Greg Wallace shouting like a demented loon, coupled with being curiously drawn to Lynette and not in a good way. Zama as you know is not a great battle to fight, too one sided. I will however watch the next one, I suppose its like rubbernecking a car crash, one is drawn to it.
By the way I find Theresa May very attractive, so what does that say for me.
Hi Robbie,I suppose the first programme of any series is bound to provoke different reactions from different people(and we wargamers are certainly different!)-I think you should do a post, because your readers are as outspoken as you,and I think you would get some interesting feed-back,as I hope I will get!

Hi Robbie I am also not going too far into this however Greg Wallace what can you expect from a man who is only known for liking Puddings the other one Mike looked like the Childcatcher on Speed and as for Lynette no comment see you
ReplyDeleteBrian, has your computer got no "commas" on it??
DeleteLooking forward to Sunday.
johnc
Yes but I would not know where to put them having had limited Edukation
Delete!!!!
I've seen Mike Loades on Discovery Channel documentaries. He is off putting in a way, to be rather crude, he seems to be "up his own ___." I've noticed he's made some errors in his documentaries, but nobody's perfetc.....
ReplyDeleteCheers Doug, time will tell on Time Commanders-I'll try and keep an open mind.

I enjoyed Greg's enthusiasm. He was like a big kid. And given that job, I expect I would be too. I thought that the leader of the hooray henries was great TV entertainment, if not the best Scipio. I believe that there is only 3 in the series, so not much viewing to enjoy/endure
ReplyDeleteCheers
Chris
Hi Chris-good to see you and your family at the week-end-a "missing" lego piece is on its way as we speak!!
DeleteI'm surprised that there's only going to be 3 progs.-maybe viewing figures will persuade BBC4 to do another series.
johnc.
John,
ReplyDeleteI forgot to wish you, Brian and the rest of your gang a Happy Christmas and hopefully a very nice New Year.Im pleased to see and Brian agree about Lynette? I bet she/it/Ze would go down a storm in Geordie land.
