Plethora continued!

The Dacians troubled Rome for a long time until Mr Trajan sorted them out! my next battle was a raid on a fort, occupied by Roman Auxiliary troops.I put the Romans at a lower fighting and morale rate than the Dacians, but gave them a catapult-this would, surely, tip the balance(?) in the Roman's favour.

Top photo shows the simple set-up,middle shows the Catapult, bottom shows an alternative sort of Cat-a pult!!(oh what a joker!!)-actually next door's cat which visits me on a regular basis when I'm in the garage! But on with the report.

Roman cavalry skirting the fort walls for support from the catapult-which,as it turned out, was manned by the Blind Pew school of catapult operators!!-ie. no hits the whole game!!-The Roman cavalry was faced on both flanks by young Nobles, who had more enthusiasm than skill when it came to fighting!

I used a tried and tested movement method for Barbarian-types,which we call "random movement" using a dice to determine how far each unit can move in the first move-this broke the momentum of the Dacians, and gave the edge to the Romans-two Dacian units refused to move, and took a while to catch up to their other units!

Bloody catapult!-they might as well have their helmets on back to front!!!

The whole line has charged, and initially I thought that I had "hamstrung" the Romans by giving them low points, but after a couple of rounds of melee, they held their own,and eventually began to push the Dacians back!!-in the background you can see the Roman cavalry giving the Nobles a right old "bashing"-this turned the game, and allowed the Roman cavalry to threaten the whole Dacian line!

Last shot, showing the Dacians being forced back-if you look carefully you can just see the catapult operators flying through the air, having been fired from the ramparts!!(just kidding!)
Another good game, but not as good as the next one-Zulus vs British!!
