Club and painting update.

Last night we had a 100% turnout, and instead of having a game, everyone brought their newly painted figures up for us all to "ooh and arr" over-it turned into a good night!!

First up was Graham's Dutch/Belgian militia, from Perry Miniatures-these are just a small section of Graham's ever-growing Napoleonic collection, which will, hopefully, be on the board very soon!

Next up was Brian's Perry plastic 100 years war archers and men-at-arms-this is going to be such a colouful and "brutal" period to fight-can't wait!!

Dave was next-he is also painting up 100 years war figures from Perry, but metal ones!

Dave is not the best painter in the club, because I am!!-but he comes  a close second!!!!

WW2 German guns from "E-bay" bought by Dave and Paul-wonderful paint job!

More "E-bay" purchases,German and Russian troops-magnificent-roll on 24th November!!
Now,what we've all been waiting for-Dave and Paul's Napoleonic figures, back from being painted by Fernando Enterprises in Sri Lanka....................................

71st highlanders-very good quality painting, plus a matt gloss-Paul hadn't even had time to unpack the figures, but he should have a few based by next week and will bring them up for us to see.

Russian Hussar and Prussian infantry, the "boys" worked it out, taking into consideration postage and packing, that it cost in the region of £1.20 per foot figure and double that for the cavalry!!!

A close up of the Prussian infantry and a shot of the table, full of boxes-just like Christmas!
We had a good night and discussed up and coming events, demo games etc-a nice change from playing, but no real substitute!-roll on next Sunday,we will be fighting the battle planned for this Sunday, then a WW2 game.

Painting update.Nov. 2014

I promised Dave that I would do a painting update for him,to show that he has not been "idle" whilst moving house, gaining promotion etc. so here goes.......

These are "enormous" figures(standing at almost 40mm) painted very well, but not yet based to Dave's exacting standards-they are from Dave's Tippoo Sultan collection, which he is building up nicely, ready to fight Assaye, when he has enough.

Another view, showing the command group-very nice!!

A unit of Hittite archers,Dave now has enough, when added to Brian's Egyptians,to take my Pa'Arasites on-bring it on boys, bring it on!!

Dave bought a bag of these "Sea People" at Shildon show, and has painted these three up just to see how they look-well they look great to me-I can see my Pa'Arasites getting a good beating if this build up goes on!!

I am getting on well, but slowly with my restoration of the Spanish Galleon I bought at auction,I have restored the rigging where I could, and have put on the basic colours(first coats-it will need two at least!) and it is looking ok(Ithink!!)

The masts are going to be a bit of a problem-on the main mast is a "cartouche" with,I think, a painting of the Maddona and Child-too much for my limited artistic ability, but no doubt I'll think of something-the forward mast has a black cross, and banner-I may be able to manage that!!

Painting update-Prussian 7YW army

I have been slowly but surely building up a Prussian 7YW army, whilst Paul has been slowly building up an Austrian 7YW army.
The following photographs are designed to "spur" Paul on to finish his army so we can have a much anticipated game in the near future!!
I know Paul has been doing exhaustive research into the tactics and fighting abilities of both armies,so just want to get these armies fighting each other.

All of the line infantry figures were made and /or converted by me from an original designed by Pete Foggin.
My army consists of twelve regiments of foot and eight of cavalry, plus six gun batteries(including one of horse)
I have said many times before that my painting skills are "poor" but the overall effect,I think, is good,so come on Paul, get those paints out,and let's have a game soon!!

New Painting

I have managed to get a little bit of painting done in the last few weeks and have just finished a few command bases for my French Napoleonics. The figures are Perry Miniatures and here are a couple of photos:
Both are Cuirassier Generals and I enjoyed doing them. I also refurbished a few old figures which I will post next time.

Club and painting update.30.11.12.

As it's too cold to stand in the garage without the heaters on,I thought I would update you on who is painting what at the moment.

All of the above are figures painted by Brian,as part of his Danish Grenadier corps. The figures are Irregular Miniatures, and he's done a good job on them.

The two photo's above are of my finished tetudos, all five of them, they look good and I will no doubt have them on the board very soon.

This is my latest "project",although I actually started the project a while back. They are Seven Years War figures by Pete Foggin, and, although basic, look good when painted.

A couple of finished figs. in among twenty four others!
Paul has started painting his Front Rank Austrian army again,so I had better get my "skates on" and paint as many as possible.

Dave is painting when he can,and is concentrating on;Napoleonics,Tipoo Sultan, and a "secret " project, which he is keeping under wraps until it's finished.....Hmmmm.

Graham bought a boat load of figs at Smoggycon,Napoleonics, and will keep us updated on his progress. We are still awaiting his WW2 figures as well.

I mentioned Smoggycon before,so thought I will let you see some of the photos I took.

The photo below was taken before the game started and shows the Auxilliaries and Northern Tribes.

My Tribes have hit Dave's Baggage train, this was supposed to be a walk over for me,but,as usual, things didn't quite work out like that!!

The battle is in full swing in this shot,as you can see everyone is rushing around, moving figures, working out morale and tactics,oh and Brian is having his lunch!!!!

This is the Antonine Wall being attacked by Graham and Brian (who had finished his lunch by now!)

A rare shot of me and Paul relaxing before the game started,is that chap in the background pointing at me????
