A few months ago I bought and painted a batch of Plains Indians and US cavalry, from Warrior Miniatures, and so far have only had two "practice" games! However,on Sunday I will be rolling them out for a full blooded game with the "boys"-we'll see how it goes!!
Top photo is the scenario, bottom photo is the table before any figures were put on it!
Grrrrrrr!
Top photo is the Oglala Sioux camp(the totem Pole could be a representation of my family Tree!!),and bottom photo is the camps with Indians in them, ready to do battle with the US cavalry.
Top photo is the head of the 7th's column, bottom photo is a detail of the 2nd's column-why they want an artillery piece,I don't know-after all the're just fighting savages armed with sharpened twigs, aren't they???-hmmmmm!!
I'm lucky enough to live about 300 yards from an auction house(Anderson and Garland) so get to see items like these quite alot-it's good to be able to see and handle weapons with history attached to them-pity I can't afford them!!!

Game preview for Sunday 16th June 2019.
As there will be only three of us on Sunday,I thought I would put on a simple "kick and rush" Ancients game, featuring Spartans and Athenians and their respective Allies.
Scenario, with in-built objectives!-there will be one Spartan commander, and two Athenian commanders(to be picked on the night).
The table as Graham and Brian will see it on Sunday night.-Spartans on the left, and Athenians on the right.
Spartan allies facing Athenian allies across the Lokis stream.
The Spartan army, split into two distinct sections due to terrain features.
Two views of the Athenian column "snaking" its way towards the far hill.
The Spartan King and his bodyguard-with your shield or on it,old chap!!

Game preview for Sunday 18th November.
I am not a great fan of re-fighting actual battles, for the obvious reason that most players will know the outcome, mistakes, tactical blunders etc.etc. but on Sunday I have decided to re-fight the battle of Cheriton 1644-English Civil War. because it is not so well known as the major battles.
Scenario and terrain map.
The table as the "boys" will see it on Sunday-Royalists on the left,Parliamentarians on the right.
"Gunners Castle" on the Royalist's left flank-although the position wasn't actually a Castle,I have shown it as such to prevent any cavalry attacks on it!!
The table from the Parliamentarian's right flank, showing the "open" woods.
We will pick sides on the night, and a full report should be "blogged" on Monday-looking forward to it!!

Game preview for Sunday 21st October 2018.
We haven't had a "Horse and Musket" game for a while,so I thought we would do one on Sunday coming, and it would be a Marlburian game set around 1710.
If possible I like to set each side a realistic problem to solve, and this game revolves around the British trying to prevent an out-flanking move by the French, whilst attempting to out-flank the French via the town-simple?????
This is the scenario,I think I'll pick sides for this game, working on personalities!!!-should prove interesting!
A "bird's eye view " of the table,as the "boys" will see it as they arrive.
The game will start with two fire-fights already in progress,in the centre and in the town, this will ensure action from move number one!!
Top photo shows some of the Austrian troops in position, awaiting the French, bottom photo shows the French out-flanking troops marching to victory-or not!!!

Preview of Sunday's planned game.
We will be getting back to "normal" this Sunday, after a couple of weeks of not playing at the club,so I have decided to put on a fairly big Ancients game, featuring Romans against Dacians and Germans.
The scenario-I might just pick sides, working on personalities, instead of our usual "pick up a piece of paper job!!
The table as set out this afternoon-approx. 500 figures per side-should keep us busy!!!
Detail of the Fort, occupied by Auxiliaries, supported by a Legion and Heavy Cavalry.
Roman left flank, facing the dreaded German Tribes!
You've got to smile and wonder and ask yourself, why?-about the Rhinocerrous, not THE WIFE!!
Photographed in Newcastle this morning!!-COOL.

Preview for the game to be played 25th Feb 2018.
On my last blog I "hinted" that we might play an English Civil War game on Sunday, but I have changed my mind(so what's new?) and decided on a Colonial game based in the Sudan.
I have taken a few photographs and here they are......................
This is the simple scenario,we will pick sides on the night, and like all Colonial games it should be pretty exciting stuff!
This is the table as the "boys" will see it on Sunday night-the Egyptian troops will have limited ammunition!!
The Egyptian position,Fort and wall to defend-both flanks fairly open, and the Dervish hordes have cavalry on both flanks!!!!-might just be a tricky situation.
This is the view from behind the Haddendowah position looking towards the British column.
The British column, consisting of Camel-mounted troops,Lancers, artillery and infantry, all armed with the latest modern weapons-what could possibly go wrong????
Another view of the Egyptians-I'm sure the British commander will sacrifice his troops to go to their assistance(?)
The Dervish troops waiting patiently for their turn to attack-and they will!!!

Game preview for Sunday 4th February 2018.
Variety certainly is the spice of life in my Wargames World, and to this end I have decided that the game we are playing on Sunday will be a French/Indian War conflict(even though I haven't got all the correct figures-imagination also plays a big part in my life!!)
This is the scenario(the name of the fort is a "Trumpism!"which he used to describe certain African and Asian countries!!)
This is how the "boys" will see the table when they arrive on Sunday-British infantry and Rangers on the left,French and Indians on the right.
Indians lurking in the woods, opposite the British artillery and HQ.
The British infantry, all lined up and raring to go!!
Rangers lurking in the woods, opposite the Indian camp-can anyone spot a bear?
The Indian camp(I know,I know,they didn't have Teepees-but it looks good!!)
OH NO!-IT'S THE WIFE!!!!!!!!
