As previously mentioned,I intend conducting a mini-campaign with my 15mm Romans,so I have been thinking of scenarios etc. and it became pretty obvious that my Romans would need a "marching camp" to be attacked by Gauls at some time during the campaign. I didn't have a marching camp,so I would have to devise one, using materials I had at hand, but a major problem would be the gates to the camp-onto the drawing board!!!!!!
The top photo shows some handrails and battlements that my old mate Chris gave me when Queen Victoria was just a lass and bottom photo shows some 15mm gabions, made of plaster(remember plaster?) that I've had since the relief of Luknow-these items would be the basis of my marching camp.
I carefully measured, cut, scored and bent some artists mounting card, and you can see what I hope to achieve when the gates are finished.
The card has been coloured black, using felt tip pens, and the handrails, for the sides of the gate, and the battlements have been cut to size-so far so good!A view from above-I didn't have enough handrail for the rear gate,so I improvised, using a photo-copied "wicker work" sheet(who's a clever boy then??)
Wicker-work sides on rear gate-looks ok(??)-now how will it look when all parts are put together?...........................
Hmm,doesn't look too bad,but will it "house" a full Legion?......................
Of course it will!!-was there ever any doubt?
Cue the Hendrix classic,"All along the watch....................
I have "sussed" where my computer thingy has put my Barbarian photo's,so will attempt to upload them asap.
