Back in the Fray!

I haven't been able to play/blog/paint for the last few weeks because THE WIFE has been in hospital, but is now recovering(slowly) at home, allowing me a little time to indulge/immerse myself in wargaming things again. On Sunday night we had a game, with a 100% turnout-and I thoroughly enjoyed the company ,banter, rude jokes and bad language-marvellous stuff!!

This is the scenario and terrain map-Paul and Graham were the British, whilst Dave and Brian were the French-I looked on and refereed(?)-The whole concept of the game was to out-flank,and resist the out-flanking moves-a real challenge, which "the boys" handled very well.

Top photo shows the British out-flanking force, bottom photo shows their "reception"-it was all about timing and co-operation!

Brian and Dave coming up with a "cunning plan"-could Paul and Graham match it???

You bet they could!!-after an initial artillery bombardment-the whole British line advanced-tremendous stuff!-and the right flank got hotly engaged-cavalry versus cavalry, infantry versus infantry-proper wargaming!!!

Graham has got an infantry regiment isolated, with cavalry melees going on all around him-he was forced into a defensive formation, and was shot to bits by Dave's advancing regiments-you couldn't ask for more!!

The top photo shows a weakened French centre holding its own(steady!) against a sustained British attack, bottom shows the ferocious fight for the town!

Paul has gone in with the bayonet!-the Town was just about to collapse, but Brian had reserves in hand, and they were thrown in,just in time-on the French left flank, the cavalry battles were going on with no clear winner-could this be called a draw???-Brian said yes,Dave said no,Paul and Graham said yes-so democracy won,and a draw declared!!-this was a real tonic to me,so thankyou "boys".

Next week we will be running through our intended game for Carronade show in Falkirk(May)
