Ptolomy vs Antiochus 300BC.

Last night we(Paul,Dave,Graham and I) we had another gem of a game, pitting two Successor armies against each other.

The terrain and scenario, and table as the "boys" saw it as they arrived-Ptolomy(Paul and I)on the left and Antiochus(Dave and Graham) on the right.

Ptolomy says Go!!!

Paul's Phalanx rolls forward in top photo,I furiously attacked the right flank hill defended by Graham-Elephants couldn't wait to get stuck in-would they cause any bother???

Top photo shows the phalanxes about to clash, bottom photo shows Paul manoeuvering his cavalry, trying to tempt Dave to attack!!

All hell has broken loose on the right flank!! the centre has ground to a stand still, which will not last long!!

BANG!! away they go-it was swings and roundabouts-tense stuff, then offficers began to fall(on Ptolomy's side, and Paul's magical dice throwing left him-oh,oh!! but what of the hill battle??

Not going too well for my "best" troops, plus a rampaging elephant took out my winning peltasts! will Paul's cavalry win on his flank??

Two photo's for the price of one!!-top(two) photo's show the mess one of my Elephants has made of my flank, bottom photo shows the "conflab" between Dave and Graham as to which army has won!!!

Paul, indicating that a count of "lost" units puts the win at the feet of Ptolomy-hurrah!!

This was a close thing, totally enjoyable, well done to us all,and roll on next week.

  1. Hi great looking game, I recognise those elephants? Hinchliffe? The Successers is a fantastic period, you have the lot.....chariots, Greek fire, elephants, camels staff doing etc.
