Statistics!

I have recently noticed a massive increase in the "page views" on our blog, and they are all from Russia!!-can anyone explain this, and are there any other bloggers finding the same?-Herkybird's Nest is reporting the same.

See what I mean-in one day,Wednesday 20th July I had 958 "views",all from Russia-very strange, but very gratifying if the Russians have taken an interest in our blog!!

  1. Me too. Every few months this happens, I don't think it's anything nefarious, it's likely automated web bot data collection.

  2. Yes had a few more than average from Russia myself. I do normally get some as I have contacts there because of Drabant but over 2000 in a week is a tad unusual.

  3. Well, I am Russian and I regularly visit your blog. But I am not the one responsible for all this traffic you receive.

  7. I'm seeing the same thing on my blog. Last month, a large number of hits from Russia. Probably phishing sites trying to leave clickbait, either in comments or on the statistics page.

But it's not as if they're trying your hack your computer, although emotionally it might feel like it.

  8. BTW, when I look at the statistics over a single day or week, there are clear spikes, with suddenly a huge number of hits on specific instances in time. So that indicates it's an automated process, and something trying to scrape blogs en masse.

  9. It's like Donald said, "Russia, if you are listening..."!!
Similar thing for us. We had a crazy spike back in October 2013 as well. I assume that these latest are computer driven 'hits' rather than genuine page views, as the 2013 ones were.

  10. Same here. I blame James for encouraging them. I did a post on my hits and had a few comments like your post has. First I've seen the Russian brides angle.
